2022年8月に始動したアートプロジェクト“脱衣所—(a) place to be naked”。“脱衣所”と名づけたプロジェクトスペースは、アーティスト・研究者・建築家といった、多種多様で多国籍なアイデンティティーやバックグラウンドを持つメンバーによるコレクティブの拠点となる。本プロジェクトは、もともと個人の住居だった空間に、脱衣所という名前が示すような〈私〉と〈公〉が入り混じる中間領域、プライベートな家の中に政治や社会とつながるパブリックな身体的行為を持ち込むことを目指す。コレクティブのメンバーによる企画を中心とし、メンバー以外のゲストとのコラボレーションも含めて、プライベートな場所をパブリックに開く、私的且つ政治的な展示やイベントの企画を行っている。11月26日より、クィアの親密性の翻訳を試みる企画展 “Feels Good To Know You Exist”を開催予定。
The project “脱衣所—(a) place to be naked” started in August 2022. The project space, named “datsuijo”, will be the base for a collective of artists, researchers and architects with diverse and multinational identities and backgrounds. The project aims to transform the space, which was originally a private residence, into an intermediate area where the ‘private’ and the ‘public’ mix, as the name “脱衣所” (a place where people undress and redress before or after entering a public bathhouse) suggests, and to bring public physical acts connected to politics and society into the private home. From 26 November, the collective is organising an exhibition “Feels Good ToKnow You Exist”, which attempts to translate queer intimacy.
世の中の当たり前に“違和感”を問いかけるマガジン。“IWAKAN”は、世の中の当たり前に“違和感”を問いかけ、“違和感”を抱く人たちに寄り添う雑誌です。それらの違和感に100点の答えを出すのではなく、共に考え、新たな当たり前を共に創造し、提案していきたい。
美術作家。“脱衣所—(a) place to be naked”創始者・ディレクター。ロンドン芸術大学チェルシー・カレッジ・オブ・アーツで現代美術を学び、2018年に卒業。サイトスペシフィックなインスタレーションからパフォーマンス、都市空間へのパブリックな介入まで、複数の形態をとる。リミナリティと中間性の概念に興味を持ち、公的なものと私的なものの間の非二元的な関係を探りながら、身体とアイデンティティの社会的構築を指し示すジェスチャーを通して、アートのカタルシス的機能を模索する。主な展示に、個展“I tower over my dead body.” (Gallery TOH)、グループ展“都市のみる夢” (東京都美術館)等。
Artist, founder and director of “脱衣所—(a) place to be naked”. Rika Nakashima studied Fine Art and graduated from the Chelsea College of Arts in London in 2018. Their work takes multiple forms, ranging from site-specific installations and performances to public interventions in urban space. They are interested in notions of liminality and in-betweenness, explores the non-binary relation between the public and private and investigates the cathartic function of art through gestures which point towards the social construction of bodies and identities. Major exhibitions include the solo exhibition ‘I tower over my dead body.’ at Gallery TOH and the group exhibition ‘A City Dreaming’ at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum.
